Sofia

The largest and most cosmopolitan city in Bulgaria, it is a young, bustling and vibrant capital city of over 1.2 million people. As the economic hub of the entire Balkan region due to its central location, Sofia has become a magnet for foreign and Bulgarian workers. The city is also home to hundreds of foreign international companies, embassies and public administrative bodies. By comparison with other Eastern European capitals, Sofia boasts the lowest property prices - where luxury developments cost up to 50% less than in cities such as Prague or Warsaw. Its appeal as a holiday destination with great weather, wide boulevards, outdoor cafes and winter skiing has allowed for rental returns of 8-10% for investors.

Sofia International Airport

An 8 km journey from Vitosha Park, Sofia International Airport is struggling to cope with the 20%, jump in passenger traffic annually as more and more holiday makers and business travelers stream in and out of the capital.

The new terminal currently underway should help and will be completed in mid/late 2006. This is seen as an essential move to meet the requirements of major low-cost carriers whose arrival is imminent.
